PETALING JAYA, 26 August 2008 – PROTON today launched a special edition of the Persona with some new features and enhancements. The winner of the Frost and Sullivan 2008 Best Model of the Year, the Persona will now have a more elegant and exclusive look following a comprehensive re-styling on both the car’s interior and exterior.
The Persona Special Edition (SE) is positioned to provide value-for-money and at the same time giving drivers the luxury of comfort with premium accessories. Enhancements include soft finish leather seats, leather steering wheel, gear knob, and leather lining for the door panels.
Free with the purchase of the Persona is a portable GPS system.
Elsewhere, a new combination meter with a laser-red backlight provides good readability. Auto cruise control is yet another added feature.
On the outside, the Persona SE is dressed with a new, tasteful body kit which gives it a sporty look. The design not only complements the silhouette but is claimed to give the car better aerodynamics. Two new colours, Brilliant Red and Blue Haze have been included.
Headlamps are re-designed with a black bezel, and new 15 inch alloys have been fitted, although slightly bigger wheels would have made a difference. Door handles are finished in silver matte material.
PROTON Holdings Bhd Managing Director, Dato' Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said “The Persona SE is yet another testament to our philosophy of producing the right car for the right market at the right price. It has been positioned to give high value to the Persona variant with improvements made to add comfort and luxury to the car.”
“These enhancements are made in response to feedback from the buyers of the Persona. Since its launch a year ago, the Persona has been well-received in Australia, UK, Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore.
The enhancements made to the Persona SE do not compromise on the Persona family’s standard features like the 1.6L CamPro IAFM engine as well as the Lotus ride and handling technology,” he adds.
“Product enhancements are a continuous process in PROTON to offer more value to our customers. The launch of the new Persona SE is aimed to excite new buyers and make them view the car as their first choice,” said Syed Zainal.
The Persona was launched on 15 August 2007 and was well received by the public, resulting in a total of 52,112 bookings to date for the Persona.
The on-the-road (OTR) price of Persona SE is a little under RM60,000 which keeps it very competitive against other models in the same category in the market.
